Screens — software simulation builder

Learn how to build interactive workflow simulations using the Screens no-code builder. Create multi-step forms that let trainees practice real software tasks like CRM data entry with automatic accuracy scoring.

Screens is a no-code builder for creating interactive workflow simulations. You build multi-step forms that replicate real software tasks — filling in CRM fields after a call, dispositioning a lead, updating a deal record — and trainees complete them as part of their practice. Every response is tracked and scored for accuracy.

Go to Roleplay > Screens (or Manage > Screens) to view and create templates.

What a Screen is

A Screen is a template — a form with one or more steps that a trainee works through. It looks like a simplified version of a real software interface. You design the layout, add the fields, and set the expected answers. When a trainee completes it, their responses are compared against your expected values to produce an accuracy score.

Screens work best for post-call workflows where you want reps to practice the data entry and decision steps that happen after a conversation ends — without touching live systems.

Building a Screen

From the Screens list, click Create to open the builder. The canvas is blank. Use the left panel to drag elements onto it.

Layout elements

  • Container — a single-column wrapper for grouping fields
  • Two Columns — a fixed two-column layout
  • Accordion — a collapsible section
  • Section — a titled block for organizing related fields

Field types

  • Static text and rich text (for instructions or labels)
  • Short text input and long text area
  • Radio buttons
  • Checkboxes
  • Dropdown (supports search and multi-select)
  • Rating (star scale)
  • Date and time picker
  • Image upload (2 MB max)
  • Link button

For each field, set a label, placeholder text, and whether it is required. For fields you want to score, enter an expected value — the trainee's input will be compared against it.

Multi-step screens

A Screen can have up to 5 steps. Each step has its own layout and fields. Trainees navigate through the steps in order. Use multiple steps when you want to simulate a workflow that spans several stages — for example, Step 1: log the call outcome, Step 2: update the CRM stage, Step 3: schedule a follow-up.

To add a step, click Add Step in the step switcher at the top of the canvas.

Preview and publish

Use Preview to interact with the Screen as a trainee would before publishing. Check that fields behave as expected, the step flow makes sense, and validation messages are clear.

When ready, click Publish. Published Screens are available to add to courses and practice sessions. Drafts are only visible to the creator.

Adding Screens to courses

Once published, a Screen can be added to a Course as an activity alongside roleplay sessions. Trainees complete the Screen as part of their learning path. Their responses are tracked in course analytics, and accuracy scores feed into their overall performance data.

Things to know

  • Maximum 5 steps per Screen template.
  • Image uploads are capped at 2 MB.
  • Screens do not submit data to live systems — they are simulations. Trainee responses are captured inside Outdoo only.
  • There is no conditional branching between steps at this time. All trainees follow the same step sequence.
