Skills
Skills are the named abilities your scorecards measure — discovery questioning, objection handling, pricing conversations, active listening. You define them once here, then attach them to scorecard criteria so that scores roll up per skill instead of only per call.
Go to Settings > Coaching > Skills.
Why define skills separately
A scorecard tells the AI what to look for on one type of call. A skill cuts across scorecards. Once several scorecards reference the same skill, you can see how a person or a team is doing at objection handling across cold calls, demos, and renewals — rather than as three unrelated scores.
That roll-up is what feeds the coaching views: which skills a person is strongest at, which one to work on next, and whether practice is moving the number.
Add a skill
- Click Add Skill.
- Give the skill a name.
- Save.
Keep names short and behavioural. "Objection handling" works; "Being good on the phone" does not, because it cannot be tied to a scorecard criterion.
Managing the list
The skills list is searchable and sortable, which matters once the list grows past a screenful. Search by name to find a skill before adding a duplicate — near-duplicates like "Discovery" and "Discovery questions" split your reporting and are the most common problem on this page.
Skills are scoped to the part of the product you are in. The skills used for roleplay practice and those used for real conversations are kept as separate lists, so a skill you add while working in roleplay will not appear in the conversation scorecards.
Using a skill in a scorecard
Skills do nothing on their own. Open a scorecard, add or edit a criterion, and attach the skill to it. From then on, every score against that criterion contributes to the skill.
A criterion can map to one skill. If a criterion genuinely measures two things, that is usually a sign it should be split into two criteria.
A practical starting set
Most teams do well with six to ten skills. A common set:
- Discovery questioning
- Objection handling
- Value articulation
- Pricing and negotiation
- Active listening
- Next-step setting
Add to it when a coaching conversation keeps referring to something the list cannot express.
