# Mastery Cheat Sheet for Instructional Designers

Master the core techniques for building effective AI roleplay agents: start from real calls, write specific personas, distinguish scenario from persona, and use behavior settings to control difficulty.

This is a quick reference: where each tool lives in Outdoo AI and the one or two settings that matter most. For the reasoning behind these choices (how to write personas, score behaviors, and design simulations), see [Best Practices for Instructional Designers](https://help.outdoo.ai/en/article/best-practices-for-instructional-designers).

- **Start from a real call:** on the create page, use **Add Context > From Uploaded Calls**, or **Create from > Transcript** to paste a transcript.

- **Ground the agent in your content:** **Add Context > From Resources**.

- **Need inspiration for the prompt:** click **Examples** under the prompt box.

- **Editor sections to check before publishing:** Agent Persona, Roleplay Format, Company & Offerings, Priorities & Objections, Scorecard.

- **Test it yourself:** click **Try Out Agent** in the editor before you assign it.

- **Cold calls and first meetings:** when you create the roleplay type, turn on **Is this the first interaction with customer?** This switch can only be set when the roleplay type is created, not edited later.

### Scorecards

- **Each objective:** a behavior, plus **Must do** and **Good to do** criteria. On Caliber 2, each is a list of separate points: press Enter or click **Add point** for the next one.

- **Format and N/A (Caliber 2 only):** **Format** (**Range (0 to 5)** or **Yes (5)/ No (0)**) and **When to mark N/A** on each objective.

- **Weighting:** **Overall Score** > **Score Methodology** > **Weighted Distribution** (1 to 10 per objective).

- **Scorecard model:** **Scorecard Details** > **Scorecard model** (**Caliber 1** or **Caliber 2**). New scorecards use **Caliber 2**, which scores from the Must do and Good to do checklist.

- **Strictness:** **AI Scoring Mode** (Standard, Strict, Very Strict) in **Scorecard Details**. What each mode does depends on the scorecard model.

- **Where it applies:** **Scorecard Details** > **Apply to**. **Roleplay Agent** is the default and limits the scorecard to roleplay sessions.

- **Reference document for scoring:** **Scorecard Details > Resources**.

- **Attach to an agent:** the **Scorecard** section of the agent editor.

### Micro-learning

- **Where:** the agent's **Roleplay Format** section, where you pick the micro-skill and a time cap.

- **Rule of thumb:** keep it under 3 minutes and focused on one moment.

### Workflows

- **Record:** **Manage > Workflows** > **Add Workflow**, with the Outdoo Workflow Training Chrome extension installed.

- **Attach:** agent editor > **Roleplay Format** > **Enable Workflow**, then choose **During session** or **After session ends**.

- **Review:** **Workflow Insights** on the session, or **Performance > Practice > Workflows** for the team.

- **Rule of thumb:** one workflow per process, and write the correct path down before you record.
